Food Safety Coordinator

We are seeking a Food Safety Coordinator to join our team in Deming, NM. This position is responsible for supporting overall coordination of the Food Safety and Quality Systems to ensure compliance with Food Safety and Quality Audits and GFSI Standards. The position will be responsible for increasing employee involvement and awareness of Sensient’s Food Safety and Quality Systems. The incumbent will work closely with all levels of management and hourly personnel, engaging all company employees in these programs. 

What you’ll do:

• Support GMP, food safety, and quality audit programs at the Deming operation, including monthly GMP and tool accountability audits, GFSI audits, internal audits, and customer and third-party food safety audits.
•  Deliver and coordinate food safety, quality, GMP, and GFSI training programs, including onboarding, renewal training, Alchemy, involvement meetings, exercises, and maintaining an up-to-date training matrix.
• Manage Deming document control activities, including PCQI review and sign-off, filing, issuing new documents, and revising existing documentation as needed.
• Conduct routine compliance activities such as quarterly staff locker inspections, daily HACCP production record reviews, and participation in plant and lab safety and regulatory compliance programs.
• Assist with environmental monitoring programs by performing sanitation audits, swabbing and shipping samples, trending ATP and swab results, and leading corrective “seek and destroy” activities when required.
• Oversee product sampling activities, including sample submission, packing, shipping, final result review, product release, and load allocation.
• Support root cause analysis and corrective action activities to address quality and food safety issues across operations.
• Perform additional duties as part of the Sensient Agricultural Ingredients Internal Audit team and provide general support to the quality and food safety department, site, and company goals.

What you’ll bring:

• Strong food manufacturing knowledge with practical experience and a working understanding of food safety and quality systems, technical duties, and auditing programs.
• Familiarity with BRC and other GFSI food safety auditing schemes; PCQI qualification preferred.
• Excellent written communication and oral presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and perform effectively with minimal supervision.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Lotus Notes; experience with JD Edwards preferred.
• Minimum of 3+ years of related work experience in a food manufacturing environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
