We are looking for a Compounder who will support flavor chemists by preparing compounds, conducting tests, maintaining lab operations, and ensuring safety and quality standards are met.

What you’ll do: 

Support flavor chemists in broad variety of functions including compounding, setting up flavor reactions and other flavor processing. Performs physical and chemical testing using lab or pilot plant equipment. Provides feedback to flavorist including operations performed, observations, results and organoleptic evaluations. Must conform to recommended safety, quality and GMP practices. Maintains current raw material inventory, flavor retention libraries and other lab supplies. Cares for equipment and arranges for repair/replacement if necessary.

• Accurately compounds a broad range of flavors from formulations provided by flavor chemist
• Prepares formulations for spray drying or other processing
• Conducts physical, chemical and organoleptic testing; makes oral and written observations on process and outcome to provide feedback to flavorist
• Maintains a safe and professional laboratory environment; complies with government and company safety directives
• Maintains equipment and organized inventory; requests purchase orders or work orders for required raw materials, equipment or repairs
• Utilizes good communication skills, and is responsible for data entry into internal system to document and ship samples
• Completes tasks in timely fashion and performs other duties as assigned to support needs of business
• Participates in formal Sensory panels as well as day to day organoleptic evaluations and screenings of flavors

What you’ll bring:

• Associates degree or equivalent lab experience
• Ability to follow detailed product preparation instructions and prepare samples quickly and accurately
• Well organized, able to handle multiple tasks daily, and operate in a safe and responsible manner in the lab
• Strong work ethic, ability to work well with others and a positive can-do attitude
• Must be able to lift 30 lbs and stand frequently
• Proficient in the use of MS Office programs and able to learn new systems quickly
• Must use required personal protective equipment which may include use of a respirator

The hourly pay range for this position is $22 to $28 per hour.  Pay within the range is based on several factors, which may include, but are not limited to, education, work experience, specialized training, and labor market conditions. In addition to salary, Sensient is proud to offer a comprehensive and competitive benefits program to support the holistic well-being of our employees and their families.
