Sensient Technologies New Zealand is a fast growing business unit within the Sensient Flavours & Colours, Asia-Pacific Group. We provide quality food ingredients to our customers on a world-wide basis and are highly successful through our attention to customer service, creative technological innovation and product quality. 

We are currently seeking a result driven candidate with passion for product development. The role will also focus on colour selection and support for internal teams and customers across a wide range of product applications. The candidate should drive application development and innovative formulation, process and evaluation in a variety of product segments. Additionally, the job will require attention to detail and ability to learn new skills. 

You will thrive being part of a team of motivated people, be collaborative, however also comfortable working alone. Customer, quality and entrepreneurial focus are essential in this position.   

What you will do: 

• Product Development & Innovation: Conceptualize new product ideas using our portfolio of flavours, colours and natural extracts, match competitor products, and create appealing food/beverage prototypes. 
• Customer Support: Actively manage strategic client briefs, guide clients on the best use of Sensient’s ingredient & colour portfolio, and diagnose technical issues to resolve complaints. 
• Manufacturing & QA: Lead scale-up trials to ensure efficient production lines, and work with quality teams to troubleshoot batch failures or shelf-life issues. Use analytical equipment in colour matches, shelf-life and quality issues to generate reports for internal and external customers.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as a technical partner for the sales team during customer workshops and help guide customers in the best use of Sensient’s broad colouring portfolio.

What you will bring: 

• Education: A Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry, or an applied science.
• Experience: 3 to 5+ years of formulation or product development experience, ideally in categories like beverages, dairy, confectionery, or bakery. 
• Skills: Strong communication skills and an in-depth understanding of ingredient technology, flavor/color interactions, and food processing.
