Analytics Team: Lead flavor research and analysis using instrumentation like HPLC, GC, and GC-MS. Improve and develop lab workflows and methodologies. Mentor staff to ensure both technical excellence and financial success through collaborative efforts.

Flavor Creation Team: Develop innovative flavors across diverse market segments, including Beverage, Savory, and Sweet. Work closely with customers and our Applications Teams to deliver impactful, tailored solutions which drive growth and exceed market expectations.

Sensory Team: Design and execute sensory and consumer research to provide in-depth understanding of products and consumers for product development, optimization and maintenance. Conduct panels and apply statistical analysis to deliver actionable insights. Lead training of cross-functional teams and customers in flavor language.

Innovation Team: Utilize scientific expertise to develop cutting-edge ingredients, formulations, and technologies. Contribute to groundbreaking product advancements. Collaborate with a global network of Sensient scientists to shape our industry's future.

Applications Team: Partner with customers in labs and at their facilities to bring their product visions to life. Solve challenges, provide creative solutions to deliver innovative products which align with customer goals across various industries.

This is a 12-month contract for an undergraduate student studying for a scientific or engineering degree, which has a placement year in industry.

As an Innovation Intern within the global Natural Extracts team you will be part of a team developing new extraction processes and products. The purpose of these products is to provide natural flavour to foods and beverages.  As an Innovation Intern your key responsibility is to assist the development of Natural Extracts through; a defined project relevant to your current University studies, and assigned practical work.

What you’ll do:

  • Assist in the development of Natural Extracts
  • Delivery of a defined project relevant to your current University studies which provide value to New Product Development.  Project task may involve but are not limited to:
    • Scientific literature and patents reviews
    • Design of experiment
    • Statistical analysis of data
    • Safe operation of various laboratory and pilot plant equipment to produce natural extracts
    • Safe operation of various analytical equipment to identify and quantify odorants and tastants, such as Gas Chromatography, High Pressure Liquid Chromatography
    • Sweet and beverage flavor applications
  • Recording work in Laboratory Notebook
  • Reporting project work in line with Intern’s University guidelines.

What you’ll bring: 

  • Currently in 2rd or 3rd year studying for a degree in science.  This role is particularly relevant to students studying Chemistry and Chemical Engineering
  • An understanding of basic scientific principles coupled with an interest in food and beverage
  • Planning and prioritization of workload
  • Ability to work under supervision
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Self-development and motivation
