Quality Control Manager - Food Industry

In this role, you will be:
Responsible for managing the Quality Control Lab personnel with methodology development, record keeping and sample retention for raw materials intermediates and finished products. You will ensure food safety and quality of all products produced in the plant. You will ensure specifications are defined and communicated, perform inspections of processes, employee training, compliance with applicable food laws and regulations and maintain plant HACCP plans to regulatory compliance. Direct corrective actions programs, and assist in problem solving for internal and external quality concerns.
MAJOR DUTIES:
- Assure Good Manufacturing Practice compliance for plant and laboratory operations and manufacturing records.
- Perform audits to monitor compliance with all GMP standards, Food Safety Standards, Food Safety issues, etc.
- Supervise quality technicians
- Manage and evaluate product that does not meet specifications (Lot Status & Disposition)
- Ensure QC is reviewing and organizing plant processing rcords for conformance with regulations and Company policy.
- Responsible for systematic review and maintenance of site Quality System components in accordance with corporate policies, procedures, programs,applicable government regulations and third party requirements.
- Review and respond to consumer and customer complaints
- Assure all products meet regulatory and conformance requirements prior to release.
- Perform audits to monitor the sanitary conditions within the manufacturing facility
- Participate in Food Safety audits as required
- Ensure the highest level of commitment to Safe Quality Food (SQF) in order to provide assurance that all products have been produced, prepared and handled according to the highest possible standards. If the manager is not at the facility, the responsibilities associated with the job will be delegated to the Quality Director.
- Perform other duties and special assignments as needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- BS degree in Chemistry (preferred), Biology or Technical field
- Experienced in Analytical Chemistry
- Knowledgeable on Gas chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS)
- Knowledgeable on Fourier transform infrrad Spectroscopy (FTIR)
- Knowledgeable on High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC)
- Knowledgeable on general other additional QC analytical instruments
- 3-5 years’ previous supervisor experience
- 5-7 years’ Quality Lab experience
- Knowledge of FDA, HACCP, SQF and ISO procedures and requirements
- Strong SQC knowledge and well versed in quality assurance methods and processes.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing principles preferred
- Experienced in Statistical Process Control preferred
