Analytics Team: Lead flavor research and analysis using instrumentation like HPLC, GC, and GC-MS. Improve and develop lab workflows and methodologies. Mentor staff to ensure both technical excellence and financial success through collaborative efforts.
Sensory Team: Design and execute sensory and consumer research to provide in-depth understanding of products and consumers for product development, optimization and maintenance. Conduct panels and apply statistical analysis to deliver actionable insights. Lead training of cross-functional teams and customers in flavor language.
Innovation Team: Utilize scientific expertise to develop cutting-edge ingredients, formulations, and technologies. Contribute to groundbreaking product advancements. Collaborate with a global network of Sensient scientists to shape our industry's future.
Applications Team: Partner with customers in labs and at their facilities to bring their product visions to life. Solve challenges, provide creative solutions to deliver innovative products which align with customer goals across various industries.

Ingredient Flavors Application Scientist - Product Developer

We are looking for an Application Scientist to join our team! You’ll be responsible for product applications development, product shelf-life studies, product improvement, technical support, and other R&D tasks in a fast-paced environment.
What you’ll do:
- Maintain and supervise the Pilot Plant, including overseeing the maintenance of the pilot plant equipment, necessary supplies and pilot plant sanitation.
- Plan and execute applications work independently or collaboratively with Sales and Marketing staff to support business objectives. Travel to customer sites as needed.
- Conduct cost analysis for product development & product renovation projects, coordinate product sensory testing and sensory objectives with the central sensory team.
- Effectively contribute to new product ideation by leading or participating in new product development projects, customer focused collaborative teams and other methods of developing new product concepts
What you’ll bring:
- Completed BS degree in Food Science or related field
- Minimum 10 years of industrial food R&D experience, preferably in ingredient development and food applications development.
- A thorough understanding of nutrition, food chemistry, shelf life and sensory studies
- A good understanding of Food Safety, Quality and FDA Regulatory

About Sensient Natural Ingredients
Sensient Natural Ingredients is one of the largest producers and distributors in the world of dehydrated onion and garlic products as well as chili powder, paprika, chili pepper and dehydrated vegetables such as parsley, celery, and spinach. These ingredients are used in many of today's popular convenience foods. The Natural Ingredients unit is located in Turlock, California.
The salary range for this position is $74,000 - $95,000. Pay within the range is based on several factors, which may include, but are not limited to, education, work experience, specialized training, and labor market conditions. In addition to salary, Sensient is proud to offer a comprehensive and competitive benefits program to support the holistic well-being of our employees and their families. This position is also eligible for performance-based incentive pay.
SPONSORSHIP: Due to our inability to offer visa sponsorship, we can only consider candidates who are authorized to work in the US without the need for employment visa sponsorship.
RELOCATION: We are unable to offer relocation assistance. The successful candidate will be expected to work at the Turlock, California location and must reside in the area or be willing to commute.
