Analytics Team: Lead flavor research and analysis using instrumentation like HPLC, GC, and GC-MS. Improve and develop lab workflows and methodologies. Mentor staff to ensure both technical excellence and financial success through collaborative efforts.

Flavor Creation Team: Develop innovative flavors across diverse market segments, including Beverage, Savory, and Sweet. Work closely with customers and our Applications Teams to deliver impactful, tailored solutions which drive growth and exceed market expectations.

Sensory Team: Design and execute sensory and consumer research to provide in-depth understanding of products and consumers for product development, optimization and maintenance. Conduct panels and apply statistical analysis to deliver actionable insights. Lead training of cross-functional teams and customers in flavor language.

Innovation Team: Utilize scientific expertise to develop cutting-edge ingredients, formulations, and technologies. Contribute to groundbreaking product advancements. Collaborate with a global network of Sensient scientists to shape our industry's future.

Applications Team: Partner with customers in labs and at their facilities to bring their product visions to life. Solve challenges, provide creative solutions to deliver innovative products which align with customer goals across various industries.

Innovation Scientist

In this role you will be responsible for new product development specifically focused on natural food color formulations and processing technologies. Using your in-depth knowledge and latest scientific findings, you will implement new formulations and technologies and work in close collaboration with our innovation teams across the globe. 

What you’ll do:

  • Conduct analytical, experimental and investigative R&D work using standard scientific methods and practical laboratory techniques related to food color technology
  • Identify opportunities to optimize formulations and processes and take action in implementation
  • Evaluate new food colorant formulations for performance and stability, converting experimental results into quality control test plans and product specifications
  • Actively participate in the identification and management of external relationships and partnerships for third party research agreements
  • Evaluate competitive landscape, review publications, patents, and technologies
  • Lead and coordinate R&D projects in the innovation project pipeline from project initiation phase to successful new product launch
  • Collaborate in national and international project teams, build R&D connections, develop and exchange technical content and participate in internal and external technical conversations

What you’ll bring:

  • University degree in food technology, food science, chemical engineering or similar studies or solid professional experience in R&D in the food ingredients industry
  • Strong understanding of food ingredient formulation and process development and upscaling into production, experience with food colors are an advantage
  • Ability to work organized and independently, strong analytical and critical thinking, attention to detail 
  • Very good knowledge of MS Office
  • Excellent communication skills in English and German both written and spoken. Additional European language skills are plus
